  • Okay, maybe no answer for the ladders. Here's another mystery:

All over Tokyo, when something is painted black I change the color to find out what it is, and usually if it was made by you, it's TNT. Why do you do this?

    Eden-20130409.230837
Decorating with TNT (concealed as a TV screen)

    Eden-20130409.230828
    Decorating with TNT (exposed)

Are you trying to help visitors who want to blow things up? (-:

When I find these, I change the TNT to wood and paint it black again.

    • I tried to make it more realistic with the exploding TVs

    • I guess it must be an inside joke. Exploding TVs? Is that a Minecraft thing?

Anyway, I guess it's just a great artist at work! (-:

The last question I had was this one:

      Eden-20130409.032649

What's the point of this? But maybe there's no point, maybe it was just for fun.

Anyway, I was inspired by your blimp, so I made one too:

      Eden-20130408.013936

it has the Kanji character "down" on it, because you see it only when you're about to fall 30 blocks down a slide.

I built an outer perimeter fence around the nuclear power plant and added a transit link to it, with an underground entry building where you pass security and change into a radiation suit.

I built a good replica of the house from Tamari no Totoro under the Russian Embassy building, I put it in the grass and sky biome after enlarging it (no pictures yet, but in a few days maybe)

And I built this new building with a cuboctahedron on top:

      Eden-20130418.152814

so I'm having fun anyway. Thanks for making such a great expansion to the already great Tokyo world (-:

    • I dont know where those red blocks came from. It's a trail leading to the middle of nowhwere that the original builder left behind. Your expansion is looking wonderful!!! Pretty soon I'll need to post some pics of the progress ive made as well. :D

  • Okay, here's the thing I'm wondering about the most:

    Eden-20130325.135546

In the picture there are two things that I've been calling "jump gates". My questions are:

Why do you use water in the first gate, but not in the second???

Why do you use ladders at all? Are they for decoration, or is it so I can jump if I want to "get off the train"?

The problem I have with the water is, sometimes it slows me down or makes me stop entirely, and I'm just bouncing on the trampoline block not moving anywhere.

With the ladders, sometimes I'm trying to speed up by using the controls to "move forward", but the game thinks I want to "climb" the ladder on the side of the track, so I end up climbing. In the picture here I changed the bottom ladders to wood so that stopped happening.

  • Hi again!

I found what's probably the earliest surviving version of Mega City Tokyo, it is from 10/17/2011 and called "SUPER city":

    Eden-20130416.155317

I also found your older versions "Small Dance Floor" and "wooden hut1":

    Eden-20130416.121701

    Eden-20130416.124121

I've traced the history of Mega City Tokyo through about a dozen versions, with maps including color-coded change maps. I even found non-griefed versions of Tokyo V15 and V16.

It's all at User_blog:Mrob27/History_of_Mega_City_Tokyo and I think, if you don't mind, I'd like to add parts of the very early history (SUPER city) to the Mega_City_Tokyo_(Extended) page.

  • Hi again,

I'm still creating lots of cool stuff, but for the past few days I focused on analyzing the Eden file format. I figured it out, and here's a map of your world (as of March 27th):

    Seijuurou-00b

    I hope you like it!

  • I cannot see the picture galleries in Mega_City_Tokyo_(Extended), even though all the pictures are okay by themselves. The two videos work properly.

Galleries (with the <gallery> tag) seem to work fine in my blogs. I noticed your photos have blank spaces in the names and they get changed to underscores when uploaded (like for example File:IPadPhotos_0868r8fivhiy7.PNG) so I tried editing the Shimizu section to see if I could fix it. But that didn't work.

I'm just letting you know in case you wonder why I did an edit to the page on your world. Do you know why the photos don't show up?

  • Your expansion of Mega City Tokyo is really awesone. I've started posting photos of my own Tokyo work here, in case you're interested:

    • Oh good! (-:

The next version is called Tsukune'93794598, with the date 3/26/2013. It has more of the changes I mention in the two blogs.

I'm changing the ice-slides a lot, making them easier to use as a transit system. I know they're fun to use as a parkour puzzle, but I have done some really cool things which I'm going to be showing here soon.

    • I've posted another blog User_blog:Mrob27/Local_and_Express_Transit_Systems which shows some of the madness behind why I'd want to change the transit system. There's also some more in User_blog:Mrob27/Little_Tokyo_Changes and User_blog:Mrob27/Linking_old_and_new_Tokyos. The latest shared world is Lelouch'06813630

In my version of Tokyo I am marking out the locations of your newer buildings (including on Fighting Street, and all the new ones on the south side of the blue glass pyramid) so that I'll remember where you've put new things (I'm not building most of them but I want to make sure I don't put something else there!)

But I really like the link between Totoro and Korean plazas so I added my own version. You put the entrance in exactly the same place I was using as the entrance for the "subway station" there, so I just had to count blocks and dig the tunnels. But I think you'll like how I made it work (it'll be shared in a day or two).

I don't want people to get confused so I'm giving my worlds totally different names.
