I made a "trailer" for my version of Tokyo in a special way, to create the effect of "far rendering" :
You'll also notice a familiar building -- I made a version of my favorite building from Direct City. It has the French and German flags on it now, but the version in the video is before I added the flags.
In front of your Apple Store in the EWBWCollab world (starting with EWBWCollab4 01/04/2013) there is this pool or fountain, filled with half-high water "slabs". I put a few fence blocks in for the photo just to make it obvious:
It's not normal water: it's half as high as normal. The water is all "slabs" to use the Minecraft term.
The normal way to make slabs is to place some water and let it flow, then remove the first water block and very quickly save and exit. But it requires really quick timing and I don't think you could do that a hundred times! 8-O
Okay, kewl. I figured out that I can get five blocks each time, so I see that it really only took about 30 repetitions to make all three fountains. It's pretty cool effect. The ivy seems to make a good trap for creatures, I'll have to do some experiments (MWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!)
Hey David, I have just started a skyscraper building competion in EDEN open to anyone( please see my blog for more details) and since you are an admin and have a popular EDEN facebook connection I was wondering, could you advertise my competition on the Direct City World page to get more participants? Also is there any way you could advertsise it on the main Eden world builder page as well? Thanks, and you can participate too if you want!
You'll need to have a UNIX-compatible system and you need to use other tools to actually get the Eden data out of your iOS device, and to convert the PPM map image into JPG or PNG or GIF. But there is no jailbreaking required, or anything else that's "unauthorized".

Can you make a video how we can make our own Map? I haven't time to read the complete time. It would be amazing if you can do that :) .
I'm a bit too busy programming to be making videos. The Rubik's Cube videos I made took weeks. And I don't have Ezvid, Fraps, Hypercam or anything like that, so I'd be pointing my phone at the screen and it would look really stoopid ;-P.
Here are the written instructions. You can read it and ask me to explain the parts that don't make sense.
This should work for any system with a UNIX-like shell and the basic commands (including a C compiler), such as Linux, MacOS X, or Cygwin. (CygWin is a free UNIX system that runs under MS Windows).
Make a new directory where you'll do your Eden mapping work.
Go to mrob.com/pub/vidgames/eden-file-format.html and look at the "Source Code" link to get the file "la-map.c.txt". Save the file in your new directory, with the name "la-map.c".
Compile it with a command like "cc la-map.c -o locus-amoenus"
Run Eden, go into a world, save, and quit.
Use iTunes to back up your iPad (or iPod Touch etc.), then look in "C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup". If you're on a Mac, it'll be "(your home)/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup". Look for a big, recently-modified file. That's probably your saved Eden game. Instead of iTunes, you can also use a utility like iExplorer to get the saved game file directly out of the device. Once you find the saved game data, copy it into the directory you made in step 1.
Run the program with a command like: "./locus-amoenus 17215923032.eden fmg q", where "17215923032.eden" is the name of the saved-game file. It will produce an output file called "World_1.ppm", where "World_1" is the name of the world (with spaces changed to '_' and quotes changed to '.'). PPM is an image file format.
Use ImageMagick or another image conversion utility to convert "World_1.ppm" to JPG or PNG or whatever format you want.
There are other functions available in this program. Leave off the 'fmg q' part of the command, and you'll see a command prompt like "locus-amoenus command (? for help) >". Enter '?' to see a list of commands.
I don't have a personal Facebook account. I (tried to) make a page for Venture and Utopia a while back, but I couldn't figure out much of how Facebook worked. I clicked the link you sent be, but I don't know how to message people on Facebook.
