The Fence is a semi-transparent block (portions of it are transparent) that is not naturally occurring. It is wooden and therefore flammable. When placed adjacent to another Fence block, the blocks connect evenly, and when staring through a fence, there are no seams between the Fence Blocks unless they are colored differently.

Trivia

Fence is one of three transparent blocks in the game, the others being Glass and Water. Like other transparencies, sometimes other liquid or transparent blocks won't render correctly underneath the block.
Users use these blocks commonly as bars, usually for a steel case or jail bars, by coloring them black (or sometimes gray).

Fences look more like cages due to its blocky shape along with everything else in the game.
