I don't pay attention to statistics much. Personally, I like editing, getting new members of the Wiki when we can, and just making this place informative and friendly so when it's needed, people can access it.
Wow, surprising! Consider me back now that I have a lot of stuff to do relating to Eden.
ANYONE can edit the Wiki, which is both a gift and a curse. A Wiki Contributor can edit anonymously for good or bad, but logging into an account can be beneficial as you can keep track of edits, badges, and more!
The Wiki is currently in a state that we can't manually fix. People will come and go, some staying, some leaving, some arguing, some being friendly, some being constructive, some being destructive, and we can only do so much; The rest is up to the people who visit the Wiki. All we can realistically do is wait for 2.0 and hope that generates more traffic and opportunities for us as a community. We don't NEED more world pages (many of which are abandoned and left to rot), we don't NEED more users. Sure, these things would be nice, but we just need to hold out as we wait for 2.0 and continue slowly innovating the Wiki until then. Edit pages, create pages, and wait. When 2.0 comes out, we'll have more new players, and they can hopefully contribute to a better and friendlier community. Don't rush things!
Hmm, if you've got a specific user, I can look into it. Thanks in advance!
Specifically, I came back on September 11, 2012 from my about one-month break from August to then, and almost every day since then I've been on the Wiki. I've been here since May 28, 2012, and I plan to make this place a very informative place to come for Eden tips and facts. We can't forget that everyone here has lives outside of the Wiki too and I respect that to all of you, but I will be on as much as possible. Being on a lot doesn't mean you're good or bad, its in the qualitity of the edits you make while you're on and the choices you make in doing so. I don't care who becomes buerocrat, I want what the community wants and what's best for the Wiki.
I think Talonmerc definitely deserves to stay there because he's the founder of the Wiki and needs repsect and rememberance, and RUS has come back before. We can't just assume everyone is inactive, because I know we all have lives outside of the Wiki that we need to attend to. I have a feeling we'll see RUS after Update 2.0, and we may never see Talon again, but his name deserves to still be kept as a buerocrat.
Also, just because you want a new buero/admin/chat mod/rollback doesn't mean you have to demote another one.
I do think there should be something similar to signs, but not set and stone SIGNS. Something to write text on, though, like a banner. But to prevent risking ticking off the MC fanboys, they shouldnt add something called signs, but something very similar.
There's a great world uploaded and in the top charts named Las Vegas Hotel or something, and Kaitlyn took it, named it KAITLYN02, and turned it into the contest, plagiarizing the world and not following the rules of the contest. I'm not mad because I'm not the contest host or the world owner, so I'll leave it to them to work out themselves.
You don't. Comp. stands for competition. You ahve until January 31 to start a new world and make something relating to snow, upload the world, tell Dblcut3 the name, and wait for the judging results. The computer does not play a role in this competition.
I say we keep comments for the sake of simplicity, just set some guidelines to them. Sure, they can be messy, frustrating, and sometimes annoying, but as Dbl said, there isn't a forums page for everything. Also, not many people are familiar with the forums.
When I myself see spammy comments on facebook or youtube videos, I automatically tell myself not to go to the site they're advertising. Its more of a turn off for me. I say we tell our friends and spread the word, maybe advertise on facebook once or twice, but I don't even think we really NEED more users. Just my thoughts.
I don't agree with this change. Some people, me included, don't want, need, or would use forums accounts so we use the Wiki to comment on things. Wiki comments are also meant for commenting directly on a feature, block, or update to Eden, and I feel as if fully moving to the forums would be a bad decision because non Wiki users would have to make an account, and on the Wiki, its much more easier and you can have more freedom commenting. This would also mean no commenting on blog posts (I interpret), which may be something very bad. I say we keep both the forums and Wiki the way they are for commenting.
